SCBWI-MICHIGAN
Members: If you'd like to be included on any of the following online lists
- Michigan Children's Book Authors and Illustrators
- Michigan Authors and Illustrators of Other Media for Children
- Michigan Authors and Illustrators of Adult Media
Please read the following and submit the information requested.
Eligibility:
You must be a full SCBWI member with primary residence in Michigan. If you are applying only for "Michigan Authors and Illustrators of Adult Media," you may be an associate member.
Purpose:
The primary reason for the list "Michigan Children's Book Authors and Illustrators" is to promote members' current trade books.
The primary reason for other lists (other media for children, and other media for adults) is to recognize more members and their accomplishments, and to aid members in networking with each other.
Why we ask for particular information:
We require some details to prove eligibility. However, a lengthy list of itemized magazine/ezine credits may not be as effective as a brief, honest statement about your work: "Over 15 magazine credits including Cricket, Spider, Highlights for Children and Little Known Press (or ) writes a humor column for the Grace Township Gazette (or) is a regular contributor to children's ezines including such and such (or) has numerous poems in anthologies including one in "insert book title here" compiled by Lee Bennett Hopkins." These statements help members know your experience, your area of interest, and aid in networking. That's our goal.

List your trade books most recent first. Include title, publisher (and imprint if you desire), publication date, and genre. If you have a contract for a book that has not yet been released, add that title (or working title) and known information about it under "forthcoming books."
your information should look like this when you submit it in your email:

(forthcoming)
I've Been Discovered! (Big Wig Press, 2008), a YA
Boy, I Am Good (Poems R Us, 200?), a poetry collection
List any out-of-print titles that may still be on library shelves. For picture books, please include the other artist (author or illustrator) if known, so we may properly credit them. (This also helps search engine spiders find our pages and your listing.)
If your books are published by educational publishers (rather than trade), we will will list up to six titles.
If your book credits are lengthy, you/we may add a general statement to your listing. (Example: "and twelve novels prior" or "and numerous other educational books")
