Meet Rachel Anderson!

rachael andersonRachel Anderson joined SCBWI in 1989. In 2003, she decided it was time to give back to the organization, and joined our Michigan Advisory Committee. She chaired our 2004-2005 Mentorship Program and currently serves as our Volunteers Coordinator.

Beaverton is her home (north of Midland and south of Gladwin). Rachel has been married to Craig for 25 years, and they have two stupendous daughters named Lindsay (24) and Tanya (22).

Rachel works full-time at Dow Chemical as an administrative leader. The job doesn't allow for much "fun creativity" so she uses her creativity to plan team building events at work, and in making crafts with her Sunday school class. And in her spare, spare time, she writes children's books. She has written a young adult fantasy adventure, a chapter book, and three picture books, all of which are currently looking for good homes. And in her spare, spare, spare time, she attends conferences, studies the markets, and reads all types of books to learn more about the craft of writing.

Rachel began serving on our Advisory Committee in 2003.
