Meet Buffy Silverman!
Although
I always had my head in a book as a child, I did not become enthralled
with children's books until my own kids began devouring one picture
book after another. The stories that they demanded I read over
and over seemed so simple-surely I could write one.
It's ten years since I started writing and submitting manuscripts
to children's publishers, and I'm still waiting for fame and
fortune to find me. But along the way I've learned so much about
writing and revising and revising and revising
.
I've met many wonderful people through SCBWI who have inspired
and encouraged me to keep writing, who have helped me enjoy the
journey and cope with rejection. Because of their encouragement
I've kept at it and had success writing nonfiction for educational
and magazine publishers.
I still dream of my children (maybe grandchildren?) pulling books
off the library shelves with my name on the spine.
Buffy served as SCBWI-MI
Assistant Regional Advisor from 2000 - 2002.
