Shutta's 5th Annual Summer Schmooze for Children's Writers
west of Ann Arbor, MI

Join Shutta at her home for an afternoon full of camaraderie, tailor made for those who love writing and/or illustrating children's books.- Shutta writes, "Please bring a dish, finger food, munchie, snack to pass. Also . . . bring something small from your childhood--or a photo of it--for a short writing starter.
"If you've got a new book out, a galley, thumbnails, new art work to pass around and share-PLEASE BRING! This is also a good time to share/give away old writing magazines, newsletters, etc."- And as always, Shutta will collect any NEW or in EXCELLENT shape children's books to donate to the Martin County Library in Kentucky. SCBWI-MI Spring Conference:
What in the World is the World Looking For?
Washtenaw Community College
Ann Arbor, Michigan
This one day conference for writers and illustrators of children's books will be held at Washtenaw Community College near Ann Arbor, and offers Portfolio Critiques, Manuscript Critiques, and a Portfolio Showcase (registrants may display their portfolios; attendees and speakers are encouraged to leave brief comments). Availability of paid critiques is limited; read complete Conference Brochure for details. As always, we expect this conference to sell out and critique spots to be taken quickly. Register ASAP. Adhere to deadlines.Speakers' Books will be available for purchase; there will be time to have them signed. The winner of the SCBWI-Michigan 2006-2007 Illustration Mentorship will be announced at this conference.

Ann Arbor Book Festival

SCBWI-MI will occupy two booth spaces at the Ann Arbor Book Festival on Saturday, May 13, from 10AM to 5PM. Participating members will be assigned a one-hour time slot to sign books, but books will be available for sale all day. Attend the Celebrated Authors Panel at noon. Learn where our members will be throughout the festival and learn more about our participating members. For a complete schedule of events, see the Ann Arbor Book Festival website.
