Program Descriptions

for Kids: The Creative Spark

Picture book illustrator Ryan Hipp will share how he got his start making books and music for kids; and show the three most important rules for being successful at writing and drawing. Ryan will inspire kids to explore their imagination and master their creativity through drawing and bringing story ideas to life with a real demonstration. He has modified his performances and workshops for specific age groups. 

for Teens: Making Comics 101

Author-Illustrator Ryan Hipp will provide a hands-on, activity-based session to teach the fundamentals of making comics. Ryan will explore comics structure with students to help improve their stories and bring their illustrations to life. For anyone interested in learning how to tell stories through pictures, this is a fun session for all skill levels. Recommended for kids 11-17

for Adults:

1. Teaching Creativity in the Classroom In-services for college students, teachers, parents, and media specialists on the subjects of creative theory in teaching.

2. Understanding Graphic Novels: A Complete Resource for Comics in Your Library In-services for college students, teachers, parents, and media specialists on how to use graphic novels as teaching tools, understanding appropriate materials, the link between comics and creative thought and innovation, and much more.

Group Size:

Workshops: small groups (15-25), may require additional adult supervision
Presentations for kids: 25 - 100
Presentations for adults: 25 - 300
Music and Multimedia Performances: 100 - 300
