Frequently Asked Questions

This page will be continually updated with new answers as we get questions. If you have a suggestion for a question you would like answered, send it to: editor@kidsbooklink.org.

How do I find a critique group?
  • If you are an illustrator, contact Leslie Helakoski, Illustrator Coordinator (lelhel AT hotmail DOT com)
  • If you are a writer (or illustrator) looking for a group, post a request to our listserv. Include the following information: genre, experience level (if appropriate), meeting area (Lansing, Detroit, Marquette, etc.), and meeting frequency.
  • To learn more about the critique process and how to start a group, see Articles.
May I be included in SCBWI-MI's online lists of "Authors and Illustrators"?

If you are the author or illustrator of published work/s, or you have a book contract with expected publication date/s, and you are a Michigan SCBWI member, you are eligible for one of our lists. Here is the information you need to submit. Contact Diane Telgen (editor@kidsbooklink.org) with any questions.

How do I submit my book jacket/s for inclusion in the "
New Books" section of our website?

You must be a Michigan resident and a current member of SCBWI. Your book/s must be current; some additional limitations may apply. Please contact Diane Telgen, editor@kidsbooklink.org

How do I request my name be added to our
Speakers List?

Any full member seeking speaking engagements is eligible to be listed on our Speakers List; complete our Speaker List Application.

May I request a link to my personal website from our KidsBookLink.org site?

At present, we are providing links to any member included on our Speakers List and/or Michigan Children's Book Authors and Illustrators list. Your URL will link from those documents, rather than from our "link" section.

In addition, be aware that any full (not associate) member may request his/her professional site be linked to the "members web pages" portion of the SCBWI site. For instructions, visit
www.scbwi.org.

How do I correct information about me that appears at our website?
–suggest a helpful link for the “links” section of our website?
–submit an article or interview for possible publication at our website?
–advise there is an error (of any sort) at this website?
