Why Volunteer?
by Lindy Rymill

Do more, learn more
Meet more, reap more
Many hands make light work

I've never been one of those people whose hand shoots up whenever someone asks for a volunteer. Oh, I've done my share of brownie baking, but volunteering to an organization to which I pay membership dues seemed odd to me--until I met some extraordinary fellow members. They were professional, well published, connected, and generous with their advice and information. These were warm, wonderful, witty people--and volunteers to boot.

I put my hand up. I've never regretted it.

SCBWI membership benefits are many, but if you'd like to become better acquainted with peers, learn more about our profession and make networking opportunities for yourself, volunteer to help in an area that interests you. Tasks are varied and appreciation sincere.

For more information on becoming a volunteer, contact our Volunteers Coordinator, Monica Harris (monicaharris24 AT sbcglobal DOT net).
