What’s happening at the conference?
If you’ve ever wanted to make your writing and illustrations shine, there’s no better
time. Join us as we help you with: Submissions, How-To’s, Inspiration,
and Notable Essentials. Ruta Drummond, Associate Publisher for tiger tales books in Ann
Arbor, will also provide a limited number of one-on-one paid critiques.
Best of all, the cost for the day is only $30 for members ($40 for non-members), and includes a box lunch. Space is limited, so register early!

9:30-10:00 Registration
10:00-12:00 S.H.I.N.E. the Big Light
on Children’s Publishing If you are new or relatively new to SCBWI, then this is a not-to-be-missed
opportunity to learn many of the basics of publishing. It will cover standard procedures, query letters, and discussions of
genres. This jam-packed session is often part of our extensive fall conference but is being presented as a separate session
in order to provide you with more information.

the morning session? Use this time to get all your questions answered.
1:30-3:30 Catch That Tiger by the Tail–Books for Young People with Ruta Drummond Ruta shares with you what direction books are going; how they differ now from 10 years ago; how technology is affecting the “book”; and what tiger tales is looking for when choosing to publish a book.
