SPEAKERS LIST APPLICATION

Eligibility:
You must be a full SCBWI member with primary residence in Michigan.

Purpose of this form:
A)
To obtain information so that we may assist members in self-promotion via our website.

B) To obtain data so that we may share general information with Michigan members who wish to speak professionally.

The Form:
Notice:
Your email address, PO box, city, fax number, and professional website URL will appear at our website. We will not publish your street address or your phone number/s unless you request that we do so. Note our commitment and your obligation.

Suggestions: Read others' speaker information at this website to get an understanding of the publishing format we use. This may help you to write about yourself/your presentations more effectively, and help you understand why answering every question is important.

SCBWI-MI is not acting as an agent for any member nor does it guarantee employment as a result of this listing. Our chapter website provides a means of serving our professional members as well as providing general information to all members.

Do not number your answers; do not worry about formatting as long as proper titles are recognizable. Children's Book Publishing Credits:
11) List all (but no more than seven) by title, indicate publisher (and imprint if you desire), date of publication, and genre (example: YA, EZ reader, picture book, etc.). If your credits are lengthy, give us a general statement to add (example: "and twelve novels prior" or "and numerous educational books" or "and over a hundred magazine articles" etc.) Please list your book credits chronologically from most recent. Do not include forthcoming books in this section. Suggestions regarding credits.

Forthcoming Books:
12) List any forthcoming books by title, indicate publisher, expected date of publication, and genre (example: YA, EZ reader, picture book, etc.).

Magazine Credits in the Children's Genre: (If you prefer to list only your books, fine.)
13) List up to 5 titles of articles, stories, puzzles, poems, illustrations–whatever and tell us in what magazine they were published and the year of publication. If you have extensive credits and you prefer to make a general statement (example: "over 50 magazine credits including Cricket, Spider, Ranger Rick, and Highlights for Children"), or add a statement re other (non-itemized) publication credits, please do.

Other Children's Media Credits:
14) List any CDs, CD-ROMs, Music, Film, TV, etc. credits.

Awards:
15) If you or your books have received any awards, please tell us. (This information may be edited if lengthy.)

Types of speaking engagements you do; list all that apply:
16) For adults: Which do you offer? Presentations, workshops, teacher-in-services, or other?

17) For children: Which do you do? School visits, library visits, bookstore visits, residencies, other?

Program Description:
19) In no more than 50 words, provide some insight into your writing and/or illustrating background and information on your approach. This is your strongest marketing tool via our website/online speakers list. Be precise and creative. We will include a link to your professional website and indicate you have a brochure (if one is available) so that those interested in learning more about you can easily do so.

Group size you service:
20) What size of group can you accommodate? (All sizes? No more than 30 children?) If you prefer small groups, or if you specialize in auditorium-sized groups, tell us.

Fees:
21) Please tell us your speaking fee/s for the purpose of helping SCBWI-MI provide only general informational guidelines to its members. Fee information will be included at our website ONLY IF you grant us permission. If you would like specifics to be posted at our website, tell us "please post fees." If you would like to generalize (example: fees range from $200 up), please give us the statement you would like us to include. You may simply say "inquire" if you choose to do so.
