Programs appropriate for Elementary and Middle School
Sue does all kinds of speaking engagements, including teacher
in-service, conference, school, library, bookstore and classroom
presentations. She adapts her presentations to be appropriate
for the age-group requested.
Program Description
With an MFA in Creative Writing and many years experience
as a literacy consultant, arts educator, journalist, and children's
book reviewer, Sue brings a wide range of performance
and academic skills to her work. Her 10+ years as a professional
writer and book reviewer help her to reach reluctant, neglected
and 'reading averse' kids from all backgrounds. With Donuthead,
Sue is particularly interested in motivating entire blocks of
upper elementary students to engage in a discussion of how to
make their communities more compassionate and altruistic. She
believes that children this age are an incredible source of untapped
potential.
Group Size: Any size.
Fees: Often, schools whose students Sue would most
like to reach cannot afford many author visits. For this reason,
she doesn't have a set fee structure. If you are interested in
having Sue come to your school, conference or workshop, please
send her some information about your student population or audience,
past authors who have visited, and what you're looking for in
a speaker. Also include the honorarium you can offer in addition
to her expenses. Sue will work with you as her schedule allows.
Keynote speeches, conference presentations, teacher in-services
and other specialized visits vary. Please inquire. Travel fees
additional.
